Mic next to the tailpipe. Warning: there's some static for some reason, no idea why.

What do you use for your mic setup? I've been able to capture some semi–decent audio by placing my GoPro right next to the tailpipe, but the GoPro's mic is shit.

It's a lapel mic I bought on ebay for 10 bucks coupled with the go pro mic adapter. It's just clipped right above the tailpipe.

I'd advis4e against that. I held my camera right up against a Corvette's exhaust and ever since then the audio is all crackly and buzzy. The Vette ruined the mic in my camera, and it doesn't have an input for an external one :(

Eh, it's a $10 mic. The camera is really far from the exhaust

Sounds like a baby version of my car.

the mic adaptor is the source of the static, Ive gone through tons of those for this exact reason, the usb but you plug into the go pro gets bent and I think the connections come loose inside it.

Fun. I bought an off brand one first and it never worked, this is the actual Go Pro branded 'pay $10 for a 50 cent cable' one. I really don't understand why they couldn't have just put a mic plug on the camera

yeah, it's dumb, the GoPro ones are just as shitty as the rest

Could also be moisture on the connections.

You had a zzp exhaust correct? What configuration? Turbo back?
I just bought an RS, and am thinking it needs a little more rumble. ;)

I have a BNR downpipe and a ZZP catback

Here's a clip with the mic in the same place when I only had the catback
